Porch swing

Ever since we moved into our house I wanted a wooden swing on the porch.

Growing up, me and my family never lived in a house, only apartments. That was more common where I am from, as well in the middle class in general.

I am grateful for my family, my childhood and how I got to grow up in safety and a caring environment, wouldn’t change it for the world.

Only as an adult I started dreaming of having a house for my family. A couple years ago that dream finally came through and sometimes I am still in disbelief. We love it here, and I have so much space for all my woodworking and other activities.

There are always plenty of projects in the works and often my own have to get back in line. But not this summer, it was finally time. I wanted to have a big wooden swing (that can fit my big butt) made from recycled skateboards. So I did just that, exactly the way I wanted. 10 decks, some effort and time and voilà.

I don’t know what I love more, that I finally got to a place like that or sitting on the swing with my little one and just enjoying the breeze. Either way - I’m stoked.

I did initially not plan on making these for sale, but the feedback I received was amazing and orders came in. So I made another one the same summer for friends of ours, and another one is in the plans. If you are interested in a swing like this - reach out to me and we’ll make one just to your specifications.
