Sit back and relax
This is where my skateboard recycling journey started.
Like many other avid skaters, I collected broken and old decks over time. Also like many others, I formed an emotional attachment to the decks I skated and the good times I had, so naturally I couldn’t just throw them away. After looking at the pile of shredded boards for a while, the lady who owns my heart said I should either get rid of them or do something with them.
So I did something with them.
I took a shot at designing my own chair frames from some basic wooden planks, painted them black and assembled them with some sanded and finished skateboard pieces. To my and everyone else’s surprise, they were quite comfortable. After owning them for a while, we came to the conclusion that our 44 square meter apartment was just too small for that many chairs, so I put them up for sale in a local skate flea market group. Both of the chairs sold rather quickly and for much more money than I had ever expected. The people who bought them were skaters and a mom who wanted something special for her daughter.
These interactions and the feedback I received from the sales posts motivated me to continue working with used skateboards until today.
