My dear friend Venla had just moved to a new apartment in Kallio, Helsinki. Old buildings, high ceilings, tiny bathrooms. These apartments have a quite interesting style, which is why she wanted a set of chairs that fits into the whole vibe.

Although Venla liked my previous Venice beach chairs, none of the skateboards they were built with matched just right. So I dug out two more chair frames, found six skateboards with unique board graphics and color palettes and built two new chairs.

Projects for friends are tricky. You want to do your best work of course, but also make sure they get exactly what they want just like any other customer.

Since she hasn’t blocked my number or sold the chairs yet, I think she’s still happy.
